We work with many golf enthusiasts and a new trend we are seeing is incorporating one of these golf simulation studios into your home or garage space.
Why incorporate one of these into your home ?? In today’s active world our homes are our “sanctuary”. The golf simulation space allows for the homeowner to pursue a meaningful active hobby. It provides health benefits by letting you practice year-round (regardless of weather or time of day) and allows the golfer to maintain muscle memory & consistency and for the serious golfer provides immediate feedback on their performance metrics.
These systems let you play virtual golf using real balls & clubs. The system analyzes your swing data to assist you with improving your form & performance.
A typical golf simulator has 5 main elements:
-HITTING MAT AREA - The artificial turf area that you swing on.
-LAUNCH MONITOR - This the main technology with high speed cameras & or radar systems to track your ball and club to determine spin, launch angle & speed.
-IMPACT SCREEN - A heavy-duty fabric screen (sometime with enclosure) that catches the golf ball and dual functions as the projector display.
-SOFTWARE - Each software program translates the launch monitor’s data into a virtual image of your ball flying through the air and landing on the course.
-PROJECTOR - Equipment which displays the simulation software graphics onto the screen.
Installing one of these systems into your home provides a unique social aspect as many of clients utilize the golf simulator with friends & family. So instead of having your friends over for just wine & cheese, now we see people having friends over for “golf with wine & cheese”! Having an interior designer as part of the early phase of design and implementation ensures that you have a design which compliments your home and can be upgraded for a luxury look. We (Designers) like to incorporate plush velvet or leather padded wall panels around screen area and add adjacent elements such as bar space or soft lounge seating areas.
If your home has the square footage you can incorporate one of these systems into a spare bonus room or basement. On some golf systems the projector can also be used as a theater, so you can possibly arrange your room for both golf practice and sports/movie watching.
Additionally, there are portable models which also can be purchased and taken down when not in use.
