Five of Our Favorite Things

As Designers here are some of our favorite things…..

1) Plush Area Rugs….. Who doesn’t like a soft, plush area rug beneath your feet. Here in Florida, we do go barefoot alot and do wear alot of sandals & flip flops. I love a soft rug underfoot in my living room and in all the bedrooms. The floors here can be tile, stone or wood - so a plush, silky area rug is the way to go. Silk or Wool feels the softest but nylon and viscose are also very soft and budget friendly.

2) Good Pillow Fillers/Inserts…… I know it doesn’t sound like much; but a good pillow insert really makes the diference in not only the look but the feel of the pillow. A nice microfiber fill or a blend of feather/microfiber can really make a big difference in comfort. For Bed sleeping pillows (and sofa accent pillows) choose a good filler. Home Stores like Homegoods or Homesense have great deals - we routinely see Ralph Lauren, Sealy and other great pillows & pillow inserts. Although we offer down pillows, only a fraction of our clients prefer down - most like a blend or prefer faux down.

3) New Bedding……. New bedding ALWAYS is the first thing you need in a bedroom refresh. Lets face it, pets sleeping on the bed, drinking coffee in bed, and just nightly sweating, etc. our bedding takes a beating. Change out your bedding in Winter and for Summer. Again, new bedding doesn’t have to break the bank. Scour Home Stores for a basic good white coverlet or comforter and add an accent color in euros or shams or if you can add a second quilt or coverlet folded at the foot of the bed - this adds color, texture and layering height.

4) Natural Stone Countertops….. Granite, Marble, Quartzite, Dolomite we just love, love, love natural stone. Each slab is so unique and one-of-a-kind. Yes, man-made quartz is consistent (and it has it’s purpose) but it just cannot compare to the beautiful variation of natural stone. We especially love the dramatic patterns and colors. When we can we always use natural stone.

5) Touch of Greenery……Something natural and green always, always, always adds that pretty finishing touch. That little bit of natural vegetation just makes everything fresh and clean. We love real plants, they clean the air and although we sell faux - you can’t beat a living plant or tree.
