Here are the companies to watch in 2026 ......

HomeGoods & Homesense

I must say for Interior Designers & Decorators in our area these 2 stores are our favorites. With great deals on everything from sheets to bath linens, picture frames, framed artwork and accessories these two have great selections and pricing. We use these retailers when clients are on tight budget but still want their home to be coordinated and accessorized.

2025 was a fabulous year for TJX Brands and all indications are that 2026 will be just as strong. Their corporate office is not being specific about how many new HomeGoods stores will be opening but retail forecasters are thinking it will be about 30. Sister brand Homesense is projected to open about 10 new stores this year (which makes them around 77 locations overall).

Wayfair

With sales in the billions, there is no doubt that Wayfair is a major contender in home decor and home furnishing market. This online retailer also as a brick & mortar location in Chicago and is adding a 15,000 SF store in Atlanta expected to open in Spring 2026 and a similar sized store in Denver in late 2026. Their sub-brands include Joss & Main, AllModern and Perigold. So they are a powerhouse in the industry. Do we as Designers use them? No, not really as we buy direct from the manufacturers ourselves (they are a middle-man) and their shipping can be a nightmare (lots of freight damage). But for the average home-owner they are very easy to use, have a good selection and if you don't mind dealing with the delivery issues they are a good option.

RH a.k.a Restoration Hardware

With currently 64 stores in the US and 11 stores in 6 countries they provide a true "destination experience". RH plans on opening six to eight new stores in the US including a full-size gallery in Palm Desert, CA to smaller interior design and Waterworks locations around the US. RH stores are designed to feel like a luxury showroom, gallery or high-end home rather than a typical retail store and include include emersion experiences like roof-top restaurants, wine bars or barista bars. Their retail environment is great for the homeowner wanting to do their own design and procurement. They have beatiful styling and provide countless options.

Bed Bath & Beyond

Rising from the ashes like a phoenix, Bed Bath & Beyond (one of our past favorites for all things bedding related) is now back with physical retail stores (as well as online). Owners are currently promising to bring back as many as 300 locations by end of 2026. These stores will be largely retrofitted Kirkland's stores. A much smaller footprint, they will rely heavily on Kirkland's home decor products. Marcus Lemonis, CEO previously stated he did not want physical stores....so we will see what pans out.
