I had the opportunity to visit Doris Duke's Newport estate "Rough Point" located off of the famed "Bellevue Avenue". This beautiful mansion/museum is truly a gem and Duke's master bedroom is so inspirational with its unique palette of soft yellows, regal plums & purples. The collected "mother-of-pearl" furniture pieces are stunning and unexpected. Originally, the walls were painted purple (more monochromatic) however, not sure when the yellow made it's appearance.
I personally love to visit all different styles of architecture & interiors; as it is always interesting to see how people decorated and lived. I just love visiting the Newport Mansions and recommend adding Rough Point to your list of "Must Visit Places".
