What exactly is Selenite and why is it being used in home furnishings?
Selenite is a natural product and orginates from the mineral gypsum and is transparent and has a "crystal like" appearance. It's name "Selenite" from Latin selenites and Greek selenites lithos means "little moon stone". It got this name because people believed the mineral waxed and waned with the cycles of the Moon. Currently, alot of boutique furniture manufacturers as well as the large global companies have incorporated selenite into their furniture collections. We love it and have incorporated into our designs in a mirror or tabletop. The white, soothing, reflective surface is unique and works well in Coastal, Modern or Transitional design styles
